Tesselaar Ezelenbok

Dubbelbok (7,5% Alc.Vol.)

Tesselaar Family Brewery adopts award-winning beer the Ezelenbok. Texel's small artisanal family brewers have added a new unique beer to their range, ‘Ezelenbok’.

For all lovers of bok beer, Ezelenbok is not an unfamiliar name! Over twenty years ago, the Diks family first heard of the SNAB Ezelenbok during the Lekkerste Bockbier van Nederland competition. The Ezelenbok was awarded 1st prize and received great appreciation. After experiencing the competition together for years, during which the SNAB Ezelenbok and the bockbier developed by brewing father Maurice Diks also won countless prizes, a close friendship had developed, brewing friends for life.

History

S.N.A.B stands for Stichting Noord-Hollandsche Alternatieve Bierbrouwers and was founded in 1991 to promote the Dutch heritage of beer culture, by brewing alternative beer styles that had not yet been brewed in the Netherlands, if at all, and marketing them.

In 1998, the Ezelenbok was developed by the S.N.A.B. in collaboration with the Kennemer Biergilde. The Ezelenbok is a hearty doublebock that is more heavily hopped, and with no added sugars. A full-malt bokbeer, and you can taste it!

Adopt

Now that the biggest ‘task’ has come to an end, promoting beer culture in general and alternative beers in particular for the Netherlands, and the SNAB brothers are hanging up the stirring stick, there is also some good news to report! Through years of friendship and the annual event of the Lekkerste Bockbier, the Diks family on Texel had a deep-seated desire, to preserve the SNAB brewers' flavour of Ezelenbok. The Tesselaar Family Brewery adopted the Ezelenbok and took over production of this beer for the Dutch market in cask and bottle. The family has decided to honour this beautiful bokbier and the thought leadership of the SNAB brewers. In consultation with the SNAB Brewers, the Family Brewery donates part of the proceeds from each brew to initiatives that benefit Dutch Beer Culture. In 2024, the first brew has now also been sold and we proudly hand over the first cheque to Stichting Erfgoed Nederlandse Biercultuur.

Ezelenbok

Tesselaar Kalverliefde

Tesselaar Kalverliefde The hoppy house beer of De Bonte Koe

Specially brewed for Biercafé De Bonte Koe in Purmerend. For years, they had a wonderful ‘Noord-Hollandse Blond,’ originally brewed by SNAB (Stichting Noord-Hollandse Alternatieve Bierbrouwers). However, when SNAB retired in 2024, it seemed like the end of this great collaboration. In consultation with Biercafé De Bonte Koe, the brewers of SNAB, and Tesselaar Family Brewery Diks, it was decided to adopt not only the Ezelenbok (from SNAB) but also this beautiful top-fermented blonde beer with 7.2% Alc./Vol. "At Biercafé De Bonte Koe, hospitality towards our guests and a love for beer are at the heart of what we do. Kalverliefde now gives us the opportunity to share this passion with all our guests!" say Huub & Linda. Kalverliefde is exclusively available at Biercafé De Bonte Koe and in the brewery shop on Texel.
